Abstract

The Effect of Jigsaw Type Cooperative Learning Model on Student Learning Outcomes in the Social Sciences Subject of Grade V of Markus Private Elementary School Medan Academic Year 2025/2026 Thesis, Faculty of Education, Quality University, Medan, 2026. This study aims to determine students’ learning outcomes using the Jigsaw-type cooperative learning model, students’ learning outcomes without using the model, and the significant effect of its implementation on students’ learning outcomes in the IPAS subject for Grade V at Markus Private Elementary School, Medan, Academic Year 2025/2026. The background of this study is the low student learning outcomes in the IPAS subject, which are caused by one-way learning processes and the lack of variation in teaching methods. This research employed a quantitative method with a quasi- experimental research type and a Pretest–Posttest Control Group Design. The population of the study consisted of all fifth-grade students totaling 50 students, with the sample including the entire population (Class V-A as the control class and Class V-B as the experimental class). The research instrument used was a learning-outcome test in the form of validated essay questions. Data analysis techniques included normality tests, homogeneity tests, and t-tests to test the hypothesis. The resultsshowed that the average posttest score ofthe experimental class using the Jigsaw-type cooperative learning model was 80.80 (high category), while the average posttest score of the control class using conventional learning was 62.20 (low category). The hypothesis testing results indicated that t-count (4.548) > t-table (2.010), meaning that there is a significant effect of the use of the Jigsaw-type cooperative learning model on students’ learning outcomes.
